Dave Nicolette has written a series of blog posts that explore the ROI differences between a project run as a waterfall one and as an Agile one. He does this in a very detailed manner, showing resource loading and the cost associated the different aspects of the two types of process. While I am convinced, that Dave will demonstrate that Agile has a better ROI than traditional development methodology, the real importance of this work is the fact that Dave has laid the foundations for the entire development community to have better discussions about development practices and it points the way for future research on how to do development better.
