This new blog, Lean Software Engineering contains some of the best thinking on how to improve software development. The two writers, Corey Ladas, who works with David Anderson at Corbis and Bernie Thompson practice what they preach.
In the latest entry, More than one solution to the Project Triangle, Cory takes on the infamous Iron Triangle of project management. He starts by arguing against those who want to make it more complicated by adding a quality dimension, as Joe Marasco does in this article, The project pyramid -- there is a lot of good information in this article.
The main point of Cory's entry is that prioritizing the tradeoffs is the central task of leading/managing development. He concludes with a nice intro to Set Based Design as an effective way of handling the scope vs cost tradeoff.
My favorite post is Schedule is orthogonal to workflow. This concept was a revelation. It provides a deeper principle in explaining the success behind Kanban in Action and it shows the power of Axiomatic Design.
